Privacy policy

Last updated: 10 September 2026

This policy explains how Durban Curry Recipes, operated by Shane in South Africa, handles personal information on curryrecipe.co.za and in connection with its Pinterest publishing app. For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected].

Information collected when you visit

You can read our recipes without creating an account. Our hosting and network providers may process technical information such as your IP address, browser, requested pages and access times to deliver the website, diagnose errors and protect it from abuse.

We use Google Analytics to understand visits and improve the site, and Google AdSense to display advertising. These services may use cookies and similar technologies and process information about your browser or device, pages visited and interactions. Google and its advertising partners may use information about visits to this and other sites to personalise advertising, depending on your settings and applicable requirements.

Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google’s privacy policy.

Recipe tools and sharing

Ingredient ticks and recipe filtering work in your browser; the site does not maintain a personal account or saved recipe profile for these features. Search terms may appear in the page URL and therefore in analytics or technical logs.

When you choose a sharing link, the selected platform receives the recipe or article URL and, where applicable, its title or image. Your browser or device handles the native share menu and copying links. The website does not ask for access to your contacts or social account passwords. External services handle information under their own privacy policies.

The Pinterest publishing app

We are setting up a private publishing app for the site owner to share selected Durban Curry Recipes content on Pinterest. It is not currently offered as a Pinterest login or account connection for website visitors.

If the owner connects the app, Pinterest authorisation will allow it to use the approved permissions to select a destination board and publish owner-approved Pins. Information needed for this purpose may include the authorised account and board identifiers, access and refresh tokens, recipe titles, descriptions, image URLs, destination links and publishing results such as Pin identifiers. The app does not need a Pinterest password.

This information is intended only for operating and troubleshooting the owner’s publishing workflow. Recipe content sent to Pinterest becomes subject to Pinterest’s rules and visibility settings. We do not sell Pinterest account data or use it to build visitor profiles. We will update this policy before introducing materially different uses or opening account connections to other users.

Access credentials must be kept private. Pinterest API information will be retrieved when needed rather than retained as a separate account-data archive, subject to Pinterest’s permitted exceptions. The account owner can revoke app access through Pinterest’s account settings and contact us to request removal of retained app data. Revoking access does not itself delete Pins already published on Pinterest; these can be managed on Pinterest. See Pinterest’s privacy policy.

Messages you send us

If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you include. We use this to respond, handle your request and keep relevant correspondence. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information that is not needed for your enquiry.

Service providers and international processing

Information may be processed by providers that deliver hosting, network security, email, analytics, advertising and any authorised Pinterest publishing. These include Cloudflare, Google and Pinterest where their services are used. Providers may process information outside South Africa. We may also disclose information where required by law or necessary to protect the site and its users.

Retention and security

We retain information for as long as needed for the purpose described here, including resolving requests, maintaining security and meeting applicable legal obligations. Retention varies by the type of information and the provider’s settings and policies. We do not promise a single deletion period for all provider-held records. We take reasonable steps to protect information; no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and privacy requests

You can control cookies through your browser, review advertising preferences in Google My Ad Center, and use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on where supported. Blocking cookies may affect features and does not necessarily stop all technical logging.

To request access to, correction of or deletion of personal information we hold, or to object to its use where applicable, email [email protected]. Explain your request and the service involved. We may need to verify your identity before acting. Rights and any exceptions depend on applicable law. In South Africa, you may raise a privacy concern with the Information Regulator.

Changes to this policy

We will publish updates on this page and change the date above when our practices change. This policy describes this site and its publishing app; it does not replace the policies of external websites you visit.
